Sambong Leaves Tea for Menstrual Cramps

First of all, I would like to say that this is not a paid or sponsored post. I am doing this for personal reasons. I am in search of a remedy to ease my menstrual pain. For the last few months, I have noticed that my periods are getting painful. I am planning to see an OB- GYN next year to have myself checked. But I need to be well rested when I start to see one. I thought I will be relaxing this Christmas, but in reality I can’t. There’s just so much to do, and it’s so hectic that I need to just unwind after all this is through.

I know I should not be relying on Ibuprofen to ease the pain, but it can’t be helped. My menstrual pain feels like the left side of my pelvis being pricked with something sharp, then a dull and heaviness felt afterwards. Sometimes, I can feel my uterus contracting and it’s just so painful. I can’t sleep at night when this happens too. Aside from that, I am also craving for something sweet like cookies, and hot chocolate drink.

I have been trying to look for alternatives aside from Ibuprofen to ease my menstrual cramps. The following remedies helped like: warm compress, and eating a healthy diet. My family is starting to eat more fish, and brown and black rice. We get fish delivered to our house because there’s this couple who sells fresh fish on a daily basis.

My mother suggested that I take Sambong tea from ABS Herbs Company. I did further research on Sambong and I found from an article by Dr. Haider called “13 Health Benefits of Sambong.” and he mentioned that it’s  in” helping in PMS”. With that in mind, I said to myself, ” Why not give it a try?”

Generally, Sambong tea is recommended for those with kidney concerns. It also has antioxidant properties. However, please consult a doctor especially if you’re having any illness whatsoever.  I won’t suggest Sambong tea for pregnant and breastfeeding women. For further information about ABS Herbs Sambong Tea, feel free to visit the online store and  ABS Herbs official website.

I am having my period now, the second day to be exact, and it’s at this point when I feel the cramping the most. Aside from the cramping, I am having a slight headache too. After following directions from the label of ABS Herbs Sambong Tea, I drank it. There’s no bad aftertaste or anything. But I did notice a decrease in pelvic cramping afterwards. The headache slightly decreased too. I did not experience any adverse reaction to the tea because it says from the website that it may bring about an unwanted effect to people allergic to ragweed and its counterparts. Since this tea has a diuretic effect, it reminds the users to take 8 to 10 glasses of water.  I think I will continue to use this even when I am not having my period. I want to take advantage of the fact that sambong leaves have the antioxidant effect.

Cool Penshoppe Gift Suggestions

Penshoppe is a local Philippine brand that sells clothing mainly. They also sell fragrances at an affordable price. I love this brand way back in high school and even up to now.

If I remember correctly,  I think they were one of those companies who have ads  showing on TV during the 1995 World Youth Day. World Youth Day was held here in Manila.

I visited Mercury Drug Store this evening and I saw these adorable Penshoppe gift boxes that they have.  These are the perfect for those who love scents.

Each box comes with a freebie like a keychain or tag. For more information about their merchandise, please visit the Penshoppe Official Website, their Zalora page  and the Penshoppe Facebook page.

Just a little trivia.  Many international stars were featured in Penshoppe ads. In the 90s till early 2000 alone, there’s the Irish band Boyzone. The theme for their ad was Speak as One. They have other Penshoppe ads  that played their song When the Going Gets Tough.

Mandy Moore is another international endorser that Penshoppe featured too.

I hope that you enjoyed reading this. Wishing everyone a great day!

Christmas Beauty Gift Ideas

The holidays are coming. While it’s still November, now is the time to get that shopping list and look for that perfect gift for your friends. The stores at this time are still not crowded so you can waltz your way as you scour the aisle for presents and singing , “It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas” in your best Alvin and the Chipmunks voice. I am just kidding.

Most of the products listed here are available in the Philippines. These are merely suggestions, and it’s up to you to choose what to give your friends. Of course, you have to know what your friends preferences and likes are before choosing any gift to give to them.

I like receiving shower gels, lotions, perfume, and of course, makeup.

Here are some cool gifts that you can get for your beauty savvy friends in no particular order:

Pink Sugar is a brand here in the Philippines that caters to makeup. Yes, these products are getting good reviews from beauty bloggers here. So far, I like their Sugar Tint Lip and Cheek Tint. I am trying out other colors aside from the nude liquid lippie I have in the Honey Bunny Shade shown below. You may visit their website here. Yes, Pink Sugar is  a cruelty- free as well.

Watsons is a beauty and drug store here in the Philippines. Yes, they sell sheet masks of all brands, and variants. You’ll find affordable masks ranging from the least amount of 60 Philippines Pesos to more expensive ones. I can stay inside this store all day, and just look around at the different products that they’re selling.

Your friends who love Nenuco will surely love this. When you put this on you, the smell  stays all day long, even on your clothes.

I love Burt’s Bees products especially the Soap Bark and Chamomile Deep Cleansing Cream. They smell good and  they’re handy too. The products are perfect to bring when you go to work, or travel and you don’t want a makeup bag that’s bulky.

These are affordable liquid hand soap from Watson’s.  These are available on a buy one take one basis. The Green Tea scent is what I like the best. Aside from these, their shower gels are also awesome. You may visit their official website in this link

Personally, I prefer the Earl Grey tea flavor (Aside from the fact that it’s the name of my bunny too). I love the aromatic smell it produces when I pour hot water over the tea bag. Aside from that, I can add milk and it becomes milk tea. I got this Pure Darjeeling variant when I attended a wedding reception at Vikings Luxury Buffet Restaurant here in the Philippines. That Thing Called Brown Rice

Yes I can’t live without rice. When you live here in Asia, rice is a staple in all meals. Recently, my family switched from using white rice to brown rice. It’s my mom, my sister, and who eats brown rice. My dad prefers rice white still. I wish he could brown rice like us to. Older people tend to have problematic guts once they reached their senior years.

I like brown rice because when you’re chewing it, you can feel textures and you enjoy your meal even more. I can still feel the hull, and the bran tumbling inside my mouth. Previously with white rice, I am just wolfing it down like there is no tomorrow. However with brown rice, I am enjoying meal time more.

We’re currently getting the Dona Maria brand of Brown rice called Jasponica. The label says, ” Combined qualities of Jasmine and Japanese rice.” It’s brown rice, yet it’s a bit sticky at the same time.

The Dona Maria Jasponica Brown Rice when cooked afterwards. The ratio  for cooking is for every two cups of water is one cup of the rice.  It will vary with other brown rice variants so make sure to read the label first for cooking instructions.

Benefits I have experienced and seen in myself when I started to eat brown rice. I have observe the brown rice’s antioxidant and therapeutic effect which are:

  1. I don’t feel sleepy even if I have ingested brown rice. This is the stark different with white rice. I feel bloated and lethargic after eating white rice that all I can do is sleep and not move an inch.
  2. I feel strong already with just eating it. I consider it my therapeutic food.
  3. My periods are less painful.
  4. My bowel movement is better. I poop at least once a day, especially in the mornng. The effects are devastating when you haven’t moved your bowels at all. names a few reasons why brown rice is healthy like the fact that it’s rich in nutrients like selenium, and manganese. I like that I get these nutrients whenever I eat brown rice.

For more information about the Dona Maria rice, please visit their website here ,or their Facebook page here.

Pink Sugar Creamy Matte Lipstick Review

Hello everyone, how are you? I hope you’re having a fabulous Sunday. Today, I will be doing a first impression review about Pink Sugar’s Creamy Matte lipstick. For more information about their products, please visit the Pink Sugar Cosmetics Facebook page.

The current shade that I have is called Sangria. Sangria is a wine colored lipstick, or a burgundy shade. I got this when I got a loot bag from Ms Martha Sta. Barbara’s Meet and Greet.

First of all, tbe box that is a beautiful burgundy color bearing the Pink Sugar logo. The lipstick bullet is encased inside a  plastic tube. The bottom part is transparent. You can see the actual color of the lipstick.

Here is a swatch of Pink Sugar’s Creamy Matte lipstick  Sangria on the top of my hand. The product is pigmented. Yet, I have to see how this looks when I apply this on my lips. I am having problematic lips lately.

The product easily glides on the lips when I used it. There’s no tugging sensation, like your lips are becoming one with your lipstick. When I used this, my lips were flaky at that time, so I had some preparations to do before putting it on.

I scrubbed my lips with Lush’s Mint Julips Peppermint and Chocolate Sugar Tint Scrub. If you don’t have sugar scrub, plain old sugar will do. Then I moisturized my lips with a small amount of  Celeteque Dermoscience Suncare Facial Moisturizer. I waited for the lotion to dry out so that when I wear the lipstick, my lips aren’t going to be wet.

Here is how I look after applying Pink Sugar Creamy Matte Sangria afterwards.

When I applied the lipstick,  I loved how it easily glides over my lips. However , I noticed that my lips are patchy. I had to reapply a second layer in order to achieve an even look. The lipstick is not smudge-proof. The product transfers to  the tissue paper  when you press your lips together. I wish this stays longer on the lips because I love the color. For now I’ll be using this. In the future, I will try their Sugar Tint Lip Cheek and Tint Vampy Vixen in Deep Reddish Burgundy. I am currently using the Honey Bunny Shade, which is nude in color.

Yes, Pink Sugar is cruelty-free and they don’t test on animals. You may check out the Pink Sugar Cosmetics website for more information.

1)If you’re having dry or flaky lips, the best way to apply this is by using downward strokes. Putting on the product in a sideways motion emphasizes flakiness even more. If you have thin lips, I suggest for you to use a lip brush when applying the product.

2Exfoliate flaky lips.

3) Moisturize your lips, especially if you have dry or flaky lips. Generally, I don’t suggest using lip balm when moisturizing especially if it has the consistency of thick petroleum jelly, or if the lip balm is sticky. However, if you have to put on lip balm, make sure that it’s lightweight.  I don’t like it when my lips feels heavy and sticky on lips. No lip balm? You can use a lightweight moisturizer to give your lips a boost.

Just a note, I am doing a personal review on this. This blog post is not sponsored. While it is a fact that I got the product for free at an event, I am giving my own feedback about this product.

Thank you all, and have a great day!

Philippines Local Buys: 1st Pharma Isopropyl Alcohol Spray

I was visiting this grocery at Quezon Avenue in Quezon City with my father. Classes and work have been suspended because of the jeepney strike, so now there’s a chance to go out and relax.

2017-10-16 02.44.20 2.jpg

It’s called the Shopwise Express. I got the chance to browse its aisles with the limited time I have since I don’t know when I’ll be back in Quezon City.

2017-10-16 02.44.33 2.jpg

What is it that I need to have right now? Yes, a hand sanitizer. So I went around the aisles, and while doing so, I was lucky to find this isopropyl alcohol spray called 1st Pharma.  According to their label, the product promises the following benefits:

  1. It’s gentle, safe to the skin
  2. It’s an all-purpose isopropyl alcohol spray. You can use it for all your sanitizing needs
  3. It gives off a fresh and clean scent

What attracted me to this product? I enumerated the reasons below:

I like this because it has a Green Tea Extract, and according to the label of this bottle, ” With Green Tea Extract that acts as antioxidant and antiinflamatory.”

I like that the product is not bulky. It’s handy, and easy to use. You just have to be careful when using this product, making sure no one is in the way when you use the spray. Make sure the sprayer pump lid cap is shut tight so that no product spills.

Aside, from that, it has a pink plastic sprayer pump that disperses the product in mist. It also has a transparent plastic cap to cover the sprayer pump. Perfect for anyone who loves the color pink.

The product is affordable, its price is marked at 26.25 Philippine Peso ( approximately $0.50 cents when converted to US Dollar)

But no need to worry, because you can contact them via social media. For  more information about 1st Pharma products, please visit the 1st Pharma Facebook page. Thanks for reading everyone. Have a great day!
