Looking for a way to create your own digital Christmas cards that you can share via social media? Have no fear because the Meitu app came up with Christmas Limited Edition functionality. You can also check out Makeup Plus app which is another Meitu Inc. app.

You can download the app from the following links below:

Google Play Meitu app

Apple Store iTunes Meitu

To get started making your custom digital Christmas, here’s what you’re going to do:(I have included screenshots to make things easier)

1)Open the app

2) You’ll be lead to this page below. You’ll see the first Christmas card design. Click on the CREATE button below to choose that template.  For other designs,  simply scroll down  further.

3) I choose the first template,  the card that is colored red. Afterwards, I was  prompted to take a photo using the smartphone camera.

5) But you can also choose a photo from your gallery by clicking on that left icon beside the camera button.  For this tutorial,  I chose a photo from my gallery:

6) I scrolled my photo gallery, and opted for  this photo for demo purposes.

7)Once a photo is selected,  the app will automatically do its work,  and lead you to this screen shown below. You’ll see at the bottom part of your smartphone other enlisted filters.  This particular Christmas filter is called POSTER. You’ll also see the Christmas template below highlighted in a blue box.

9) If you’re happy with the photo you selected , click the blue check button ✅. It will lead you to the page indicated below:

10)Click on the white check button at the right hand corner of the screen to complete the process (White check button is located above the white COMPARE button). Voila!  You now have a digital Christmas card ready to be posted in your choice of social media accounts .

11)Check your photo gallery to see if it has downloaded successfully. I checked my photo gallery and so far I see that it’s the first photo,  meaning it’s the latest image taken. Feel free to explore other filters. I hope you have fun making this!  Enjoy! 😍😍😍😍

Children’s books for kids

I met a girl at a talk in Binan, Laguna. Her name is Sheila Lopez . She is a children’s books writer. I plan to write extensively about her in an upcoming post. She came out with her story called Si Lola Apura at si Lolo Un Momento (Grandmother Apura and Grandfather Un Momento translated to English).

In my opinion, I think books are the best gift to give to kids even in this digital age.  It’s also perfect for learning about the culture of people from other countries. For inquiries about her work, you may visit Facebook Page of Sheila Lopez.

Christmas Beauty Gift Ideas

The holidays are coming. While it’s still November, now is the time to get that shopping list and look for that perfect gift for your friends. The stores at this time are still not crowded so you can waltz your way as you scour the aisle for presents and singing , “It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas” in your best Alvin and the Chipmunks voice. I am just kidding.

Most of the products listed here are available in the Philippines. These are merely suggestions, and it’s up to you to choose what to give your friends. Of course, you have to know what your friends preferences and likes are before choosing any gift to give to them.

I like receiving shower gels, lotions, perfume, and of course, makeup.

Here are some cool gifts that you can get for your beauty savvy friends in no particular order:

PINK SUGAR PRODUCTS

Pink Sugar is a brand here in the Philippines that caters to makeup. Yes, these products are getting good reviews from beauty bloggers here. So far, I like their Sugar Tint Lip and Cheek Tint. Throwback Post: 2015 Christmas Beauty Goodies from the UK

I can’t help but post these beautiful gifts that my sister and her family sent to our family last 2015.  Here in the Philippines, we call this gifts as pasalubong. Generally, Wikipedia defines pasalubong as gifts being sent from abroad after a Filipino traveller arrives home from one’s trips regardless if it’s for business or leisure.  In our case, the gifts were sent to us by their friend who was coming home to the Philippines. Nevertheless, it’s still a pasalubong no matter what.

We’re lucky to be living in an age where advancements like Skype are available. On Sundays that we have these sessions, my sister and I will have these conversations. Then, they will ask us what we want to have for Christmas.

If you’re someone who has been to the Philippines, you were likely to get souvenirs from the shops here like SM Department Store’s Kultura, or similar stores that sell Filipiniana. Filipiniana is the general term used for products made here in the Philippines.

Here are some of the things we got :

Technically, socks are not beauty items, and still I want to include this as well.

The WOOmen.ph Media Launch

Words and Photos by: Ana Liza Benetua

Last October 14, 2017, I was able to attend WOOmen.ph’s Media Launch in Quezon City. WOOmen.ph is a Hair and Make-up Artists website whose main goal is “to raise the profile of cosmetic artisans in the Philippines”.  According to their portfolio, their mission is to “think of ways to Win Others Over- the reason we are called WOOmen.”

DSC08110

The launch was held at the Palm Grill in Tomas Morato Avenue.  I love their chosen venue to hold the launch because it’s cozy, and well-lit.

DSC08116.JPG

A few months prior to the launch, Ms. Guiden Amalay, one of the co-founders of WOOmen.ph, sent me an invite via Facebook Messenger. I felt a rush of excitement running up my spine because I will see Team WOOmen again.

I met Team WOOmen for the first time at their BEAUTY: DECONSTRUCTED workshop in Greenfield District, Mandaluyong. The place is near Shaw Boulevard. I won a ticket for the event via Ms. Sonjia Calit-Kakilala’s Instagram page. Ms. Sonjia is the Chief Social Officer of WOOmen.ph. Aside from that, she is also the the model for their BEAUTY: DECONSTRUCTED workshop.

There were some challenges faced while traveling to go to the event itself. I was shocked to see the roads filled with vehicles,  bumper to bumper, on a Saturday afternoon in the metropolis.  These places had the heaviest traffic: Buendia Avenue, Quiapo, Manila, and near Banawe. Que horror! At the same time, the weather seems to have a mind of its own, bringing gray clouds and mild showers merrily along with it. (I am beginning to sound like a weather girl.)

Amid the hurdles faced, I was able to cross and jump over it.  I managed to arrive despite the Gordian knot of a traffic situation I had experienced earlier. I asked the security guard if the event is already finished. Lucky me, because he replied that the launch is still on-going. Whew! Thank you!

I went inside Palm Grill and what greeted  me is a  gorgeous venue, styled a la mode. The ceilings in the loft area are lined with yellow and black balloons, reminiscent to the WOOmen.ph’s color scheme. The tables in the ground floor are also decorated with black balloons as well.

The registration area is a sight. I am loving the creative vibe the event brings! Every thing on the table is well-thought out. Too bad for me because I wasn’t able to get some of the goodies from them because I arrived late. But that’s OK, because in spite of that, I was still able to make it. DSC08068.JPG

As you climb up the stairs, you’ll see the loft where the main event was held. Near this bright mural of leaves, stands the WOOmen.ph poster. DSC08096.JPG

The most important ingredient in an event such as this are the people you meet along the way.  After all, an event is not complete without the people itself. You get a lot ichigou ichie moments (meeting for the first time). At the same time, it’s also nice to touch base, and chat with the gorgeous ladies I have met previously at the BEAUTY: DECONSTRUCTED workshop like Abbie Victorino, CEO and Founder of Stylegenie. ph

Overall, the WOOmen.ph Media Lauch is a success.  You can sense so much positive vibes that it’s literally lingering above our heads. You can still feel the love in the air hovering, which is evident in the photos posted below:

Team WOOmen.ph Pabz, Guiden, Chrislyn, Myca( I hope I spelled the name right), Gelo, Kristine and Shu

Of course, I also have to thank Bryan who works at Palm Grill (or is it Brian, hope I spelled his name right) for happily obliging to have his photo taken beside the WOOmen.ph poster. Hmmm, a model in the making. What do you think?

Me with the funny lips. I was not able to have my photo taken at the WOOmen.ph photobooth. Oh well, this will have to do.

Are you an aspiring or a professional hair or makeup artist? If you’re reading this, I tell you,  this is  your chance to shine. Simply check out the official WOOmen website and their social media accounts, and sign up to be part of the WOOmen squad today. I will post the links below:

Wishlist: Benefit Babies

The photos below are samplers of products that I got from Ms Martha Sta Barbara’s 7th The Beauty Junkee Anniversary last 2016.  I absolutely love them. I am planning to have these three products in my must have list.

I love their POREfessional line. It’s a lifesaver for my face whose pores are the size of giant craters (Sorry. Just exaggerating. Peace). My full size POREfessional Pro Balm is almost down to a zilch that I have to get a new one soon.  Same thing goes for my Brow Zings as well, I have used it well and about to get new ones for it too.

It’s worth spending for these thingamajigs because you know that they work and that they make you look good. For more info about Benefit’s products, you may check out their website Benefit Facebook Page.
