Christmas Beauty Gift Ideas

The holidays are coming. While it’s still November, now is the time to get that shopping list and look for that perfect gift for your friends. The stores at this time are still not crowded so you can waltz your way as you scour the aisle for presents and singing , “It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas” in your best Alvin and the Chipmunks voice. I am just kidding.

Most of the products listed here are available in the Philippines. These are merely suggestions, and it’s up to you to choose what to give your friends. Of course, you have to know what your friends preferences and likes are before choosing any gift to give to them.

I like receiving shower gels, lotions, perfume, and of course, makeup.

Here are some cool gifts that you can get for your beauty savvy friends in no particular order:

PINK SUGAR PRODUCTS

Pink Sugar is a brand here in the Philippines that caters to makeup. Yes, these products are getting good reviews from beauty bloggers here. So far, I like their Sugar Tint Lip and Cheek Tint. I am trying out other colors aside from the nude liquid lippie I have in the Honey Bunny Shade shown below. You may visit their website here. Yes, Pink Sugar is  a cruelty- free as well.

SHEET MASKS FROM WATSONS

Watsons is a beauty and drug store here in the Philippines. Yes, they sell sheet masks of all brands, and variants. You’ll find affordable masks ranging from the least amount of 60 Philippines Pesos to more expensive ones. I can stay inside this store all day, and just look around at the different products that they’re selling.

BURT’S BEES PRODUCTS

I love Burt’s Bees products especially the Soap Bark and Chamomile Deep Cleansing Cream. They smell good and  they’re handy too. The products are perfect to bring when you go to work, or travel and you don’t want a makeup bag that’s bulky.

HAND SOAP FROM WATSONS

These are affordable liquid hand soap from Watson’s.  These are available on a buy one take one basis. The Green Tea scent is what I like the best. Aside from these, their shower gels are also awesome. You may visit their official website in this link

BOXES OF TWININGS TEA

Personally, I prefer the Earl Grey tea flavor (Aside from the fact that it’s the name of my bunny too). I love the aromatic smell it produces when I pour hot water over the tea bag. Aside from that, I can add milk and it becomes milk tea. I got this Pure Darjeeling variant when I attended a wedding reception at Vikings Luxury Buffet Restaurant here in the Philippines. MUZ Sheet Mask Review

Words and Photos by Liza Benetua

I was going to  a nearby Mercury Drug store to see if they have sheet masks in store. Mercury Drug is a Philippine brand that carries not only medicines, but also groceries, makeup, and toiletries too. In our area in Paranaque, it’s open 24 hours a day.

Lucky for me, I found this MUZ Sheet Mask sold as singles. MUZ is a Korean brand under the company JA YEON MAPPING COSMETIC CO. Aside from the sheet masks, the also have the MUZ Skin Whitening Exfoliator, and the MUZ Anti-Wrinkle Eye Cream.

There are two facial sheet mask variants available:

MUZ Whitening Plus Facial Sheet Mask, Whitening + Oil Control (Pink package)

MUZ Whitening Plus Facial Sheet Mask, Whitening + Collagen (Light blue package)

The variant I wanted to try is the MUZ Whitening Plus Facial Sheet Mask, Whitening + Collagen. Since I am in my 30s, and aging skin is one of my concerns, I bought this instead. It only costs for P 50.00 Philippine Pesos for a single sheet mask pack.

Reading the label, the product has the following benefits of “Whitening, Anti-ageing, Tightening and Rejuvenating, Reduces oiliness, Contains Antioxidants”

Following the directions, I simply put this sheet mask over my face for the next thirty minutes. But prior to that, I have to fix and make the adjustments as to how the mask was lying over my face.

Notice in the photo below the folds and creases I created when I adjusted the mask.I don’t like it especially when it’s blocking my eyes, and my nostrils. I have to ensure that the product doesn’t spill over my eyelids. The eyes are very sensitive so we have to make sure to protect them from foreign matter. Sorry if I look like a ghost here.

I noticed that there is still an excess  left inside the packet, so what I do is apply the remaining contents to my neck, my arms, and my hands. It’s nice that my neck and hands get the needed antioxidant boost that it needs.

RESULTS and FEEDBACK

Upon placing the sheet mask over my face, you can distinguish its lemony scent. It smells good.  I heaved a sigh of  relaxation, like when you’re getting a massage at a spa. The skin gets tired as well so it’s like the it’s getting a facial massage too but in a different way.

After 30 minutes,  I love how my skin feels hydrated afterwards. I think I will buy this sheet mask again. I love how it’s affordable, and at the same time, you also get beautiful skin afterwards.

Can men use sheet masks? Oh definitely. I suggest that members of the XY group to  use sheet masks as well. You can share this tip with your husband or your partner.

CONCERNS

My concern is putting on the sheet mask over your face. It needs to be adjusted in order to fit your face. Aside from that, it’s soaked with the collagen and lemon extract so be careful when you’re about to place it. Why? The extracts might spill over towards your eyes.

Here are some of my suggestions in order to address this concern:

1)It’s better to sit down in front of a mirror when putting on the mask in a properly lit room.

2)But when you’re about to lie down, make sure your head part is elevated, not flat on bed. You can prop pillows behind your back.

3)Adjust the mask for a custom fit to your face particularly near the eyes and nose area.

If you notice anything unusual happening to your face like redness, or any allergic reaction, please remove the product and go to the Emergency Room immediately to have it checked.

All thoughts I have given here are my personal opinion of the product. This is not sponsored. I  bought this mask with my money.

Thank you for reading this, and have a great day!

Facial Skin Cleansers I Have Tried

Before you can even put makeup, it’s very important to keep the face and skin clean. Of course the type of product you use on your face would vary in accordance to your skin type. Some would have normal skin, while some would have oily, dry, sensitive or acne prone skin. Regardless of your skin condition, it’s best to choose a product that suits your needs. I am sharing to you some of the brands I have used, local and foreign ones.

In my teens, I always get this US TEEN Magazine from a magazine stand at SM Department Store. This is where I saw the facial cleanser I used first called Noxzema. It’s one of the products that I liked first. I am not sure if this is still available here, but yeah, love how it cleans my face.

As for me, I have oily skin, that becomes a bit sensitive sometimes.  So I have to use something that diminishes oil in the first place. I am sharing to you some of the brands I am currently using. The reviews I am writing are my personal feedback and is not sponsored by any brand whatsoever.

1)Celeteque DermoScience Hydration Facial Wash with NMF (Natural Moisturizing Factor)

op-facialwash

Celeteque is an affordable Philippine brand. I love how my skin feels after washing my face with this product. The product does not have an irritating smell when I use it. Though the label says hydration, my first concern was, “Will this really clean my face?”. So far it did, plus my skin feels soft after using it.

2)Burt’s Bees Soap Bark and Chamomile Deep Cleansing Cream

DSC07878.JPG

I love Burt’s Bees Soap Bark and Chamomile Deep Cleansing Cream. As soon as I start to clean my face with it, I know that I can trust the product to do its thing. Aside from that, it also smells good that after I wash my face, I can still smell the product in my face. Plus, it kept my face soft too. Keeping this in my arsenal.

3)Safe Guard DermaSense Acne Prone Skin Facial Cleanser and Face and Body Bar

DermaSense1

I made a post about this product, and it’s perfect for me when I have a breakout. I don’t get major breakouts in the face, a few pimples here and there once in a while. But when they appear, it can really be painful and bothersome. I am so thankful that Safeguard came up with this. It is not only good for my skin, but also for the body. I get rashes sometimes in the back, arms and sometimes the legs. It can be embarrassing to be seen with such.

I know you have a favorite facial cleanser that you use. I would love to hear your thoughts on it, and what you loved most about your cleansers. Thanks Cheerio!
